Pre Employment

The purpose of the pre employment medical is to verify that the prospective member of staff is physically fit to perform the duties of the position for which he/she has applied and to help guard against work-related illness and injury occurring subsequent to the person’s employment.

Health Watch Clinics pre-employment medical examinations provide an excellent baseline for assessing the suitability of an individual for a given job.

At the request of the prospective employer, the pre employment medical may consist of the following:-

  • Full medical & occupational history
  • Full physical examination
  • Spirometry testing – Lung function test
  • Audiogram – Certified Hearing Booth
  • Drug & Alcohol screening
  • Blood Tests
  • Resting ECG
  • Treadmill ECG stress test
  • Chest X-Ray

Information on the physical capacity requirements of each position can be provided to aid in the recruitment process in terms of fitting prospective employees to the job tasks and minimising the risk of injury.
